GRISI PLUS - A geoportal to introduce "new modernity" in European rural territories
6/02/2012
Back to news list
The aims of
GRISI PLUS
(Geomatics Rural Information Society Initiative PLUS) are to build a
European GeoPortal for the interregional cooperation between regions from all the Members States
. This GeoPortal brings together interoperable and multilingual Spatial Data Infrastructures in accordance with
INSPIRE Directive
.
The GRISI PLUS objective is
to improve the effectiveness, modernize and enrich economic development policies in rural areas by increasing the use of geographical information and geomatics tools in order to face the major stakes of rural territories
.
GRISI PLUS will
introduce a new “modernity” in European rural territories
mainly based on:
the development and implementation of geomatics tools within the GRISI project (Interreg IIIC)
the implementation of welcoming practices for new inhabitants within the SOHO SOLO project (Interreg IIIB)
the deployment of the SOHO SOLO programme in the Gers province in France.
The project will show how the Information and Communication Technologies (geomatics tools in particular) can help rural areas to develop their territorial attractiveness in order to
attract new inhabitants and to promote their socio-economic heritage
.
This project is coordinated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Gers (France), and in cooperation with the
CEI Gers Gascogne
for the deployment of the
SOHO SOLO Programme
.
