The EBN and the BIC Community celebrated 25 years of existence witnessing the experience acquired and the willingness to go further with the same enthusiasm and faith in entrepreneurship and innovation creativity.
How can we best acknowledge these achievements if not through the testimonials of small innovative companies which started with the help of a BIC and which have grown up so significantly that we can now label them as "champion companies" in their category?
On last 27 January, the audience had the opportunity to listen to testimonials of three champion companies having successfully expanded their activities after BIC follow-up in their beginnings. They gave examples on the way to reach the top with the right financing, the right partners, the right advisors.

EXILICA
Exilica is a small chemical manufacturing company that was incorporated to produce micrometer sized spherical polymer particles and sub-micrometer sized hollow silica shells. Both the polymer particles and hollow shells are being developed as additives to a variety of industries, including polymers, cosmetics and topical medicines. Being based in Coventry provides Exilica with a number of advantages including a central location in the country, which improves ease of access to customers both up and down England, and also ease of access to major rail lines, roadways and airports. The facilities provided by Coventry University Enterprises Ltd are excellent and perfectly meet Exilica’s needs, as an early stage start-up. The meeting rooms and bistro provide pleasant surrounds for Exilica’s meetings and the availability of a carpark for visitors is big plus.

CODASYSTEM
Codasystem is a SME that developped the digital picture with legal value and created Shoot and ProofTM, an integrated powerful tool that manages information and pictures for field force activities. Moreover, pictures captured with this software allow you to prove WHO WHAT and WHEN and WHERE the scene occurred. The Codasystem certified photo has legal pull since authentification and secure protocols take place from the time the photo is shot to the time it is broadcast. Patented since 2002, Codasystem today is the only alternative to heavy and costly means of legal reports. With many awards trophies and already used by many customers in very different fields, Codasystem solutions are marketed directly to large accounts but also through its network of partners, integrators, operators and mobile manufacturers.

"Codasystem was hosted at the Technoport (BIC CRP Henri Tudor) during the starting phase in 2006. This gave us more visibility and recognition. We were surrounded by entrepreneurial minded people with problem-solving attitudes! We benefited from R&D support and synergies with Tudor’s labs, engineers and networks. They involved us in CANTATA – an EUREKA – ITEA project where we could access public funding support to broaden our technological competence and mingle with major industry players. We received support services in our business on topics like marketing and business planning, hosting infrastructure and entrepreneurial environment (other start-ups)."
